(St. John’s, Canada) • My favorite dish from Newfoundland. Even after moving to Ottawa, we often make them for breakfast. It’s a fried bread dough on a pan in butter. It’s incredibly delicious!
- Leavened bread dough
- Pull small amounts of bread dough and flatten them into a disc as little pancakes. Let them rise.
- Add some oil or butter to a pan and wait until the butter melts.
- Add the toutons and cook on medium low heat until golden brown
- Flip them to cook the other side
